I usually buy rice from Asian super market because they have good quality one for reasonable price. People here call the rice " Sushi Rice". We don't eat the rice just for sushi. We do eat that all the time. The big difference between rice in Japan(and Korea and Chinese...?) and Thai or other western country is that our rice is much more moist than the other ones. People describe them as "sticky". Whichever word they want to use to define the rice, I think our rice is sweet and pleasure to eat.
Recently, I had a project that require using rice from some where in US. The rice was long, light and especially dry. After the project, I had so much left over that I didn't know how to use. I mean, I can't just eat it like I eat our usual rice.... Especially I could tell that my husband wasn't happy being served the rice.
So, for my first try is Curry (Lamb curry). I cook Indian style curry all the time. I agree that Indian curry goes well with those dry rice! The result was good. We enjoyed curry/rice for two days. (We believe that curry on the second day has better flavor than the first day, so we always make a lot for the next day.)
The end of the curry challenge, I made curry puffs with Quick Puff pastry and little bit of curry plus yellow lentil stew.
